Slovenian Philharmonic

Brass Ensemble

...was founded in 2002 on initiative of Slovenian Philharmonic’s brass section in desire for artistic progress that can be fulfilled through the chamber music. During its comprehensive work the ensemble performed numerous successful projects that were in season 2015/16 upgraded to their first independent concert cycle held in Marjan Kozina Hall of Slovenian Philharmonic.

Since its start the ensemble has been regularly playing concerts across Slovenia as well as among the Slovenian minority in Italy where they performed within the Festival of Contemporary Music Kogojevi dnevi and it has participated at Slowind Festival. With a support of Society of Slovene Composers it commissions and performs new compositions.

TASF has recorded three CDs, Tasf with Slovene Composers published by Society of Slovene Composers, Brilliant Baroque published by Slovenian Philharmonic and The ugly duckling published by label ZKP RTV SLO. Its broad repertoire includes arrangements from different stylistic periods as well as original compositions for brass.

In recent years the ensemble has performed few notable projects: in 2012 a concert with guest soloist and versatile virtuoso on trumpet Allen Vizzutti, in 2013 an author project of composer and conductor Lojze Kranjčan, in 2015 Big Concert and Brass Week under legendary Roger Bobo, in 2016 Show-off Gala with trumpet player Reinhold Friedrich as soloist and in 2017 special family concert with newly composed music by prominent Slovenian composer Nina Šenk, based on H. C. Andersen’s fairy tale The ugly duckling. Cooperating with such eminent artists is a great recognition to the ensemble and priceless encouragement for its further work.
